About us

Trained at Sutton Place Estate In Surrey under head gardener John Humphreys, in my late teens and early twenties the standard was set. Money was no object as this the former house of John Paul Ghetty the well known oil millionaire. I enjoyed a rare time in my life where there were no limits to the possibilities in the garden.

After a few years of gardening on the Estate I felt ready for the world and soon after became a Forman for Blake-down landscape sub contractor. I was responsible for planting many thousands of trees in and around South Wales. This was all part of a motorway development project and I felt an essential pay off to the environment. Although this project was worlds apart from life on the Estate it taught me many of the practicalities of success in such a hard landscape.

After three years in Europe working as a gang Forman I returned to Shropshire to tackle an interesting project to create a woodland walk through our secret hills in Clun, Shropshire.

Many years of self employment developed into my present business, Arealagardener.


The Team

Tom Mawer Ten years experience in hard landscaping and a brilliant tendency towards natural stone. Came to Arealgardener with a fantastic C.V and continues to add to his repertoire working for Arealgardener.

	Emma Archer A naturally caring gardeneress, who specialises in maintenance and all those little jobs in the garden, essential to make the garden grow.

	Zbigniew Karolewski Nearly three years with Arealgardener Zbigniew’s knowledge grows with the garden and accompanies his own background in market gardening. He hopes to return to Poland in a few years and develope his own horticultural business.

	Slawomir Szkopinski A farming background equips Slawomir with all the skills he needs to make a very good gardener. A natural comic he keeps us all smiling.

		Harvey Buchan First appeared with Arealgardener on work experience Harvey impressed the team to the point he now regularly returns during holidays, where he enjoys any challenging task that requires careful thought.

			Luizee Unseen but not unnoticed luizee has for many years added her creative flare to all my office applications, responsible for carefully producing a fantastic powerpoint presentation of our work, she now carefully commits to replicating this in the website.
